Opportunities for Improvement

District 200 encompasses a large, diverse, and well-educated population with no shortage of good ideas already implemented or under consideration.

I would like for the District to continue to explore opportunities for greater intergovernmental cooperation. Can we achieve better results and/or lower costs through more collaboration with municipalities, park districts, and other governmental entities? The District already works closely with park districts, first responders, and municipalities within our jurisdiction, and I encourage more collaboration when it can be productive.

I want to be sure that we continue to accommodate the diverse educational needs of almost 12,000 students. All of us want our children to live happy and productive lives. Many of us hope they will grow up to change the world for the better after achieving an advanced degree in “rocket science.” Thankfully, there are opportunities for truck drivers, carpenters, auto techs, and many other essential workers without which our society could not function. We must continually review and update our curriculum to be sure of preparing ALL of our students for what comes next.
